With baseball season about to begin, Americans are most looking forward to sharing their ballpark peanuts, Cracker Jack and hot dogs with actors Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Lawrence, according to the Aramark Baseball Survey. The survey found 16% of U.S. adults would like actor and die-hard Red Sox fan Wahlberg to be their ballpark food pal, while 15% would choose to share a meal with Oscar award-winning actress Lawrence. If Wahlberg or Lawrence are off filming a movie, fans would not mind grabbing some nachos, chicken fingers or veggie dogs with Jimmy Fallon (12%), Beyoncé (11%) or Tina Fey (10%), while taking in a ballgame. The survey also revealed:
- Among women, Mark Wahlberg (14%) and Jimmy Fallon (14%) tied for first place, followed by Jennifer Lawrence (13%) and Kelly Ripa (11%).
- Men would prefer to attend with Mark Wahlberg (18%) and Jennifer Lawrence (18%), followed by Beyoncé (14%) and Jerry Seinfeld (12%).
- More women than men (14% vs. 9%) would eat a meal at a game with Jimmy Fallon.
- More men than women (14% vs. 9%) would choose Beyoncé as their ballgame companion.
- Jennifer Lawrence (22%) is the most popular among millennials ages 18-29.
- Kelly Ripa (15%) is most popular among adults 50+.
Forty-two percent of those in relationships who have joint bank accounts also maintain individual accounts, according to new research by TD Bank. The survey revealed that couples who maintain individual accounts do so for a variety of reasons, ranging from independence to convenience to emergencies:
- 38% of individuals in relationships who maintain separate accounts said they do so for independence, making it the top reason for holding individual accounts.
- 43% of women ranked independence as their top reason for keeping separate accounts, while only 34% of men said the same.
- 20% of respondents kept separate accounts to ensure they had funds available for individual needs like emergencies and personal spending.
- 16% of the total population noted convenience and ease of budgeting and paying bills as a reason to have separate accounts. Men were 38% more likely than woman to cite convenience as a reason for keeping separate accounts.
- Only 7% of respondents cited privacy as a reason to retain an individual account.
According to a new Travelocity survey, the most sought-after vacation is the relaxing kind, particularly among women, 55% of whom said they’d prefer the beach or a spa holiday. The most popular destination among millennials ages 18-34 is Europe, while 27% of respondents said they prefer to take a stay-cation within the U.S. A quarter of men said Australia was their desired destination. If given the opportunity to travel with a celebrity, about 40% agreed they’d take a funnyman or woman like Ellen DeGeneres or Jimmy Fallon along. Interestingly, the survey also reveals an economic gap as the same question yielded different answers among luxury travelers, defined as household incomes making more than $100,000 a year: 21% of these respondents said they want to go on vacation with someone “smart” like Mark Zuckerberg or Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer.
Warren Buffett can breathe a sigh of relief. Everyone has reportedly been eliminated in the $1 billion NCAA perfect bracket contest sponsored by Quicken Loans and Yahoo Sports, and backed by Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway. It’s really no surprise, according to CNN Money. One estimate puts the odds of picking a perfect bracket at 9.2 quintillion to one. Those odds are longer than the likelihood of winning Powerball and Mega Millions in the same weekend. The University of Dayton’s upset of Ohio State eliminated 84% of contestants in Buffett’s challenge. Nearly all remaining hopes of winning the $1 billion were dashed Friday, when powerhouse Duke – the choice of 98% of Yahoo bracket fans, was upset by Mercer University. The final blow came when Memphis beat out George Washington, knocking out the remaining three bracket holders. But those with imperfect brackets may still have a chance to win. Quicken Loans is offering $100,000 runner-up prizes for the 20 most accurate brackets.

An Arkansas man was arrested and charged with harassing communications after he allegedly called a female bank teller and asked her to spank him. After Drake Parks, 50, went into a Van Buren bank, he allegedly left and placed an inappropriate call to a young woman who had been working while he completed his transaction. According to the victim, a man who identified himself as “Drake Park’s father” told her that Drake had informed him she “was being a [expletive] that day” and that he would give her $50 if she would “punish” Drake for calling her such a bad name. Parks then allegedly got on the phone himself and said he wanted her to “spank him.” The victim hung up and called the police after he started to give her an address.
German customs officials discovered 14 cocaine-filled condoms in a package marked for delivery to the Vatican. The condoms contained 340 grams of liquid cocaine, valued at around $55,000. The parcel was addressed to the main postal center at the Vatican and was mailed from somewhere in South America. After German officials found out what was in the package, they attempted to set up a sting operation with the help of Vatican police to catch the intended recipient, but no one ever claimed the drug-filled piece of mail. Authorities believe that the person may have been tipped off about the sting.
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is really tapping the Rockies, installing three beer taps in the Governor’s Mansion to commemorate the beginning of Colorado Craft Beer Week. Hickenlooper, who co-founded a Denver brewpub more than 20 years ago, now has a “draft beer system” in his home that can serve up IPAs, pilsners, ales and stouts. “It just seemed appropriate,” Hickenlooper said. “I think it’s a symbol of Colorado; I think it stands for freedom, having a lot of choices. The mansion is another symbol of Colorado. It’s where we entertain. It’s where we kind of show off Colorado, and beer has become a big part of what Colorado is.” The Colorado Craft Brewers Guild helped foot the bill for the taps.
An independent New York City movie theater is being criticized by moms for including Lars von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac: Vol. 1” in a film series aimed at caregivers that offers free tickets for very young children. A spokesman for Landmark Sunshine Cinema said the “Rattle & Reel” program, as it’s called, exposes parents with infants to new films “regardless of subject matter or rating.” Basically, it gives people with babies an opportunity to see movies with an audience that won’t give them a hard time for bringing a crying kid into a theater. Previous noon matinees have included graphic violence (“12 Years a Slave”), steamy affairs (“In Secret”), and baby-stealing nuns (“Philomena”). Landmarks says it won’t be pulling “Nymphomaniac” from the series.
A man was arrested in Florida Friday for allegedly punching two bar patrons and setting a trashcan on fire. Police said Jason Buchanan, 33, allegedly downed 10 shots of Jägermeister in a row before going in the restroom at Mark’s Sports Pub and setting the garbage can ablaze. He then tried to leave without paying his $80 tab and when two patrons tried to stop him, he punched them both. Buchanan was charged with criminal mischief, aggravated battery, assault on a law enforcement officer, battery on a person 65 years of age or older, first-degree arson and offenses related to not paying his tab.
Have you ever heard of chocolate fried chicken? There is going to be an entire restaurant in Los Angeles dedicated to the new invention, which combines sweet chocolate with savory fried chicken. Adam Fleischman, of Umami Burger fame, is the mastermind behind the new concept, which will be called ChocoChicken. Apparently, the chicken is a dark brown color, but ultimately the chocolate simply brings out the best savory flavors of the chicken and isn’t cloyingly sweet.
An Oklahoma girl sold more Girl Scout cookies than any other in the organization’s history, beating the record by just 10 boxes. Middle School student Katie Francis, of Oklahoma City, officially broke the record when she sold a staggering 18,010 boxes of cookies. The previous record was 18,000. Francis, who was also the national top seller in 2013, set a goal to sell 20,000 boxes and still has one more week of selling left.
In an unexpected move, two contestants were sent packing last night in the first elimination of season 18 of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Endurance swimmer Diana Nyad and former pro hockey player Sean Avery were both voted off the show. After a television reporter confused him with Laurence Fishburne during an interview last month, Samuel L. Jackson has taken steps to make sure the same error doesn’t happen again. While he was in London to promote “Captain America 2,” Jackson wore an “I’m not Laurence Fishburne” t-shirt. The interview that KTLA’s Sam Rubin conducted with Jackson in February quickly went viral because of the way Jackson reacted after the reporter mixed him up with Fishburne. “See, you’re as crazy as the people on Twitter! I’m not Laurence Fishburne!” Jackson said at the time. “We don’t all look alike…There’s more than one black guy doing commercials. I’m the ‘what’s in your wallet’ black guy. He’s the car black guy.” The new “Captain America” film is out on March 26th.
Legendary stoner comedy duo Cheech and Chong announce their first official film together in over three decades. The film will be written and directed by Broken Lizard’s Jay Chandrasekhar, who directed, co-wrote, and co-starred in “Super Troopers,” “Club Dread” and “Beerfest.” The plot sounds similar to narrative premise of Beerfest, except this time the festival is about marijuana instead of beer. It’s been over 30 years since the last official Cheech and Chong movie, 1983’s “Still Smokin’,” the sequel to “Up In Smoke,” the breakout classic that made the pot smoking duo a stoner sensation.
Joe Brown, a Shelby County candidate for district attorney general and former Shelby County Criminal Court judge, was arrested after he reportedly lost his cool in a Memphis, Tennessee, courtroom yesterday. Brown is best known as “Judge Joe Brown,” the star of a court-room reality series canceled last year. Juvenile Court Chief Magistrate Dan Michael said Brown, who was in court representing a client at a child-support hearing, started yelling at the judge. “He all but had that courtroom in a riot,’’ Michael said. Brown was arrested for contempt of court and was ordered to spend five days in jail.
“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” will bid farewell to another of its original cast members. Paul Guilfoyle, who has played Captain Jim Brass since the first episode in 2000, is going to leave the show at the end of the current 14th season. Guilfoyle is one of only two actors who has been with “CSI” from the start as a series regular; George Eads is the other. His final appearance will be in the May 7th Season 14 finale. Sources say producers made the call to end the character’s storyline. The actor, who found out late last week that he wouldn’t be returning to the series, made what sources say was an emotional farewell speech during Friday’s final day of production on the “CSI” set.
“American Horror Story” Season 4 has got a subtitle. Series creator Ryan Muprhy took to Twitter to reveal that the upcoming installment of the FX series would be called “Freak Show.” According to Entertainment Weekly, “Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, ‘Freak Show’ finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.” Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy all play performers Lange’s character has rescued; Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return.

“Homeland” and “White Collar” actor James Rebhorn, who died Friday at age 65 after a long battle with melanoma, took time out before his death to write his own obituary. It was published by Jersey City’s St. Paul Lutheran Church yesterday. Rebhorn started his obituary by paying tribute to his mother Ardelle, who “loved him very much and supported all his dreams,” and father, who taught the actor that “there is no excuse for poor craftsmanship. A job well done rarely takes more or less time than a job poorly done.” The actor went on to praise his wife Rebecca and his two daughters, who “anchored his life and gave him the freedom to live it. Without them, always at the center of his being, his life would have been little more than a vapor.” Rebhorn added that he hoped his daughters would “grieve his passing only as long as necessary. They have much good work to do, and they should get busy doing it.” The actor wound up his obituary by praising the actors’ unions who represented him, his teachers and his agents. “He was a lucky man in every way,” the obituary concluded.
Gwar’s David Brockie – better known as Oderus Urungus – has died at his Richmond, Virginia, home. He was 50. According to band manager Jack Flanagan, one of Brockie’s bandmates found him Sunday evening. According to Flanagan, Brockie’s next of kin has been notified and authorities plan to conduct a full autopsy. It’s not the first death for the band. Guitarist Cory Smoot was found dead on the group’s tour bus in 2011. The band subsequently retired his character, Flattus Maximus.

A glow-in-the-dark vinyl recording of the “Ghostbusters” theme song will be released next month in honor of the film’s 30th anniversary. The special edition of Ray Parker Jr.’s iconic theme will debut on April 19th for Record Store Day. The new “Ghostbusters” vinyl will feature the original recording, the instrumental melody, a dance remix and a dubstep version. Only 1,000 copies of the record will be released.

LeAnn Rimes apologized to Oklahoma fans for an abrupt end to her Saturday concert after her jaw popped out of place. “Oklahoma!!!! I love you so much! I’m sorry for no encore. I had my jaw pop out of place & I can’t hear out of my left ear. #tmjsucks,” Rimes tweeted after the show. Rimes, 31, suffers from TMJ, or temporomandibular joint disorder, which causes problems with the joints connecting the lower jaw to the skull. She also blogged about the disorder in 2012, when she wrote that she had been “living in a dental nightmare for 10 months.”
A manuscript John Lennon created in 1965 called “The Singularge Experience of Miss Anne Duffield” will hit the auction block. Sotheby’s estimates the manuscript will sell for $40,000 to $60,000 at an auction in New York in June. A drawing Lennon created around that time of a guitarist with four eyes has a presale estimate of $15,000 to $25,000. A manuscript entitled “The Fat Budgie” is expected to sell for up to $35,000. The items are being sold by Tom Maschler, who worked with Lennon on the books “In His Own Write” and “A Spaniard in the Works.”
Neon Trees lead singer Tyler Glenn has come out as gay.The 30-year-old made the announcement in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I’ve always felt like I’m an open book, and yet obviously I haven’t been completely,” Glenn confesses to Rolling Stone’s Caryn Ganz. The singer says he has been aware of his orientation since he was young, but chose to keep it a secret for years. The singer was raised as a Mormon and still identifies as such, even though the Mormon church forbids homosexual behavior and says such relations are against the will of God. Glenn says he first opened up in October 2013 when he told several of his friends and family members about his sexuality. Many of the songs he wrote for Neon Trees’ upcoming third album, “Pop Psychology,” address his struggle to come out of the closet.
David Cassidy has been ordered to stay in rehab for three months and undergo probation for five years after he pled no contest to a drunk-driving charge. According to the World Meteorological Organization, last year was the sixth warmest year ever recorded. Every year, WMO issues its Status of the Climate report, this year’s report described warming trends as well as the rise of extreme weather events across the globe. The 21st century – still in its infancy – is already home to 13 of the 14 hottest years in history. The first 10 years of the new millennium, from 2001 to 2010, was the warmest decade on record. Climate scientists continue to stipulate that year-to-year temperature variances, or even extreme weather events, can’t be directly linked to global warming. But climatologists agree that the WMO reports are evidence of the continuation of a long-term trend. The WMO report also details other climate factors linked with the warming planet, including loss of sea ice cover at both poles, warming ocean temperatures, rising sea levels, and record-high concentrations of CO2 and other greenhouse gases.

Four New York-area men were arrested yesterday after a base jumping stunt from atop One World Trade Center in September. James Brady, Kyle Hartwell, Marko Markovich, and Andrew Rossig have been charged with burglary, reckless endangerment and jumping from a structure. The group climbed the nation’s tallest building on September 30th and parachuted more than 1,300 feet off the skyscraper. Hartwell kept lookout at the base of the tower during the stunt. Video footage of the early morning jump shows the men deploying their parachutes and flying down to a secluded spot on a nearby highway. At the time of the incident, Brady was a construction worker assigned to work at the One World Trade Center site. The men snuck into the area through a hole in a fence. The charges come less than a week after a 16-year-old boy from New Jersey was arrested on trespassing charges at the skyscraper. Justin Casquejo is accused of sneaking past security and climbing to the top of the building. Police said Casquejo also snuck in through a hole in a fence to get into the One World Trade Center site. It is unclear whether it was the same hole in a fence that the base jumpers used.
